Is The Whiting a practical day trip from Kawkawlin?
The Whiting can anchor a day trip from Kawkawlin if the performance time and drive work for your plans. It is a venue in Flint rather than a destination with a single, fixed schedule: its program changes, so start by finding an event that fits the day you have in mind.
Whiting Auditorium presents a range of live performances, from Broadway productions to music, dance, theatre and comedy. That variety makes the event itself the key planning detail; the venue’s year-round operating pattern does not mean every kind of show runs every day.
The auditorium opened as James H. Whiting Auditorium in October 1967. Today, the Michigan tourism listing describes it as open year-round and identifies amenities including accessibility, family-friendly facilities, motorcoach parking and Wi-Fi.
Check the event and venue details first
Check The Whiting’s event schedule for the performance you want, then confirm its date, start time and ticket availability with the venue. Event listings are the practical starting point because the auditorium hosts different kinds of shows rather than following one daily program.
Once you have a performance in mind, confirm the address: 1241 East Kearsley Street, Flint, MI 48503. The Michigan tourism listing gives the venue’s phone number as (810) 237-7333, which you can use to ask questions that the event listing does not answer.

How do you plan the drive from Kawkawlin to The Whiting?
Plan the drive from Kawkawlin to the venue’s Flint address using a current navigation service.
Enter the complete venue address before leaving and check the route and traffic conditions for your travel day. That gives you a current estimate for the trip, rather than relying on a distance threshold or a time that may not reflect the route you take.
If you are arriving in Kawkawlin by air before making the day trip, the drive from MBS International Airport to Northland Motel Bay City-Kawkawlin is about 20 minutes. The companion guide to getting from MBS Airport to Kawkawlin can help with that separate leg of travel.
Time your arrival and return around the performance
Work backward from the event’s stated start time, allowing for the drive you confirm on the day and time to reach the venue. Check whether the event listing gives any arrival guidance, and contact the venue if you need details about entry or parking.
Before setting off for the return journey, check current traffic and route conditions again. The drive time can vary, and no fixed Kawkawlin-to-venue travel estimate is available here. The venue’s address provides a clear destination for navigation, but it does not establish parking arrangements.
What should you verify before booking?
Confirm the event date and start time, ticket availability, and any arrival instructions before you commit to the trip. The Whiting’s event page is the place to check the current program; for details that are not stated there, contact the venue directly.
Do not assume that parking, ticket exchanges or entry procedures follow a standard policy. The available venue information does not give parking locations or costs, regular box-office hours, refund or exchange rules, entry procedures, or detailed accessibility services. If any of those details affect your plans, ask The Whiting before booking.
Before you go: Event schedules and practical details can change, so check the official site before you go.
